Have you always wanted to 'play in clay'? Did you make pots a while ago and want to get back to it? Have a hankering to drink out of a mug handmade by YOU? Here is your chance! Have fun learning to create bowls and mugs by pinching, coiling and slab construction. Take a turn on the potter's wheel. Classes will also cover working with textures, slips and glazes. All clay, tools and firings included. Beginning and experienced students are welcome. Class is limited to three students with a lot of individual attention in a relaxed atmosphere.
The studio has an electric wheel, an extruder, a slab roller,an electric kiln and shelf space. We use a white stoneware clay and have a selection of glazes that are fired to cone 6.
I am an artist, potter and sculptor. I have been teaching workshops for over twenty-five years. I received a BA in Fine Arts from Hofstra University and an MA in Art and Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
